Gaál Zsuzsanna Gaál obtained her degree in Hungarian and German Language and Literature, and in Finno-Ugristics at the University of Szeged in 1988.

She has been teaching Hungarian as a foreign language in Hungary and abroad as well. (In Germany she has been conducting Hungarian courses in Sprachinstitut Tübingen, in England she has been teaching Hungarian as a private teacher.)

She is a senior lecturer at the University of Szeged, Faculty of Teacher Training, Department of Applied Linguistics. She is doing her Ph.D. studies in the field of applied linguistics, second language acquisition.
